Maths A-level plan 'should be axed'

A proposed new maths A-level is "weak" and will "cannibalise" the subject, educationalists have claimed.
Education for Reform said that the use of mathematics A-level would provide inadequate preparation for university and should be scrapped.
England's exams agency, the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) has been consulting on the proposed A-level, which would be taught from September 2011.
